BUCKHANNON — Members of the new Rotary Club forming in Buckhannon met with Shari Messinger, the district governor for the state on Aug. 9.

Messinger was installed into office on June 20 and became the first governor of District 7545, a unification of Districts 7530 and 7550 on July 1. She has been a member of the Rotary Club of Barboursville for more than 15 years, is a Paul Harris Fellow, past president of the Barboursville Club and a Rotary Leadership Institute graduate.

Members of the new club were pleased to meet with her and discuss plans for chartering the club, officials said. They plan to focus on ways to make the new club more appealing to younger generations, more inclusive and to help to promote the long-term success of Rotary International and the new club.

The next meeting for the new Rotary club will be held at noon today at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
