Public Health Service 5K set

WESTON — Roanoke resident and U.S. Public Health Service employee Tammy Thomason is coordinating the first U.S. Public Health Service 5K Walk Run on Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at 9 a.m. next to the Weston Fire Department and Military Museum on Center Avenue in Weston. Part of the proceeds will benefit the military museum.

Thomason will be receiving help from Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Weston 5K Walk Run, which will provide prizes for the top three winners.

The route will remain the same as last year. Racers will traverse a route on Main and Center Avenues. The race begins close to Saint Patrick Church on Center and will go north on Center Avenue, taking a left onto 6th Street and then another left onto Main Avenue and running south to the Triangle, bearing left onto Center Avenue. Repeat the lap and then proceed to the finish line at the fire department.
