Local groups hosting Socktober drive

ELKINS — October is Domestic Violence awareness month and local groups are giving back. Youth Health Service, AmeriCorps VISTA and the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library will be taking donations of new or slightly used/clean socks for women. Donations will benefit Centers Against Violence (formerly Women’s Aid in Crisis).

Last year, Youth Health Service collected over 300 pairs of socks that were given to the Randolph County Homeless Shelter. This year, they are aiming for 400.

Socks may be dropped off through Oct. 25 at Youth Health Service or the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library.
