Kisamore joins Barbour Community Health Association
PHILIPPI — Barbour Community Health Association recently announced that a local Barbour County woman with 38 years of nursing experience will fill the role as nurse manager at Myers Clinic.
Lorelle Kisamore, of Philippi, is excited to be back in her hometown and to be part of the Myers Clinic family.
“The reputation of Myers Clinic, as well as Barbour Community Health Association, is impeccable for community service,” she said. “That’s one thing you miss when you work out of your county, you miss taking care of your neighbors and your friends.”
Kisamore received her degree in Nursing from Davis and Elkins College in 1981. Since then, she has worked various nursing jobs in the area and has worked as an OB/GYN nurse in Montana when her husband was in the Air Force.
Most recently, Kisamore worked as the Director of Nursing at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg.
Aside from the stability of the position, Kisamore enjoys the flexibility and variety that being a nurse has to offer.
“The best thing about being a nurse is I’m not pigeon-holed. I don’t have to be a psych nurse or an OB/GYN nurse for the rest of my life,” she said. “You can work for a while in one area and when you get burnt out or get itchy feet, you can move on to some other area.”
As a nursing manager at Myers Clinic, Kisamore will be in charge of staff management, ordering supplies, vaccines, and medication and adapt when staffing changes occur.
With this new position, Kisamore brings experience and a new perspective to the nursing department.
“When there’s change, there’s fear because of a new person, and I just hope they see that I manage fairly and everybody gets treated equally,” she said. “I also hope they know that I’ll pitch in whenever I am needed.”
Kisamore and her Postmaster husband Brian have two children and five grandchildren. In her spare time, Kisamore enjoys spending time with her family, reading, enjoying her camper with family at Holly River State Park and Canaan Valley Resort and volunteering with the Barbour County Fair Association.
