Wesleyan announces creative arts events schedule

BUCKHANNON — The annual fall choral concert, the 50th Anniversary of Jazz Ensembles, the Indoor Marching Band Concert and the Festival of Lessons and Carols highlight the November and December West Virginia Wesleyan College creative arts events schedule. All events are free and open to the public.

The Fall Choral Concert, “Let All the World in Every Corner Sing” will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins and will include the Wesleyan Singers, Concert Chorale, Concentus Vocum and Brass Quintet. The concert will feature works by Dominick Argento, Melchior Vulpius, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Dan Forrest.

The Celebration of 50 Years of Jazz Ensembles at Wesleyan will be highlighted by a special concert Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Culpepper Auditorium in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. The David Milburn Era Group will be directed by Neil Randolph ’78 and the modern day group will be led by current jazz ensemble director Dr. James Moore, dean of the faculty and chief academic officer.

Wesleyan’s energetic marching band will present their annual concert Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in Culpepper Auditorium. This fall, the group marched in the Mountain State Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade and presented field shows in the area as well at all home Wesleyan football games.

Finally, one of Wesleyan’s most cherished traditions, the Festival of Lessons and Carols, will be held Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. The event will feature the Wesleyan Singers, Concert Chorale, Concentus Vocum and the Wesleyan Brass Quintet and the carols will include arrangements by David Willcocks, Alice Parker, and others.

Dec. 4, 7 p.m.: Marching Band Concert, Culpepper Auditorium

Dec. 6, 5 p.m.: Strings Studio Recital, Wesley Chapel

Dec. 8, 4 p.m.: Lessons and Carols, Wesley Chapel

Dec. 10, 6 p.m.: Small Ensembles Concert, Loar Auditorium
