If you think you know the story of miserly old Scrooge, think again. Madcap Puppets turns this Christmas ghost story into a fantastically funny tale, bringing your favorite Dickens characters to life with giant puppets and exciting new twists.

Madcap Puppets was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1981. Since the beginning, they have been firmly rooted in the art of professional puppet theatre, children’s literature and world cultures. Madcap quickly built a repertoire of comic-absurd and original fairytale performances, touring up to six ensembles concurrently to schools, community centers, art museums and libraries. Classic stories such as “The Three Little Pigs,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and others were adapted for Madcap’s giant puppets and expressive hand-in-mouth characters.

Madcap Puppets is nationally recognized for engaging and original children’s theatre productions, as well as in-school educational programs that include performances, workshops and residencies. Children’s learning experiences are enriched by partnerships with schools and libraries across the country. Audiences enjoy collaborations with the arts which allows Madcap Puppets to bring a richly textured artistic experience to children and their families.

“A Madcap Christmas Carol” will be performed by Brandon Leatherland and Zach Robinson. Leatherland received his Bachelor of Science from Radford University in 2015. Since then he has been traveling around the country working with different theatrical companies. His recent credits include “Spring Awakening” (Moritz), “Legally Blonde” (Emmett), and King Ubu (Ensemble). Robinson was recently a part of “Lincoln: a Pioneer’s Tale” with the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association. “Grapes of Wrath” and “The Last One” at Northern Kentucky University where he recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in acting. Both performers are delighted to be touring with Madcap Puppets and to bring “A Madcap Christmas Carol” to Philippi.
