Philippi Library hosts Gnome on the Roam event

PHILIPPI — Leo, the Library Gnome, will be on the roam at the Philippi Public Library throughout December.

Clues will be provided twice per week via Facebook and at the circulation desk as to where Leo is reading. Patrons may decipher the clues and find Leo who loves to read the library’s books. Finders of Leo will receive a ticket a ticket for a drawing for a Gnome basket. Entries are limited to two per week until the prize drawing on Dec. 20.

The library will host two Monday “Crafter Gnomes” on Dec. 9 and 16 in which gnome ornaments will be made. Sessions will be from 4 – 5 p.m. for children and 5 – 6 p.m. for teens. There will also be a Gnome Scavenger Hunt from 4 – 5 p.m. Dec. 23.

The library will also host other holiday programs including Preschool Story Hour on Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. There will be a Holiday Lego Club from 4 – 5:30 p.m. and Christmas Family Movie Night (TBA) from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12. On Dec. 13, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., come out for some fun with Pajama Story Time and Stuffed Animal Sleepover and on Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Christmas Story Time with Mrs. Claus and stuffed animal pickup. The library will hold Building with Magnets from 4 – 5 p.m. Dec. 17.

The library staff welcomes the public to a Christmas Open House beginning at 5 p.m. Dec. 18, with “Here We Come A Caroling” to begin at 6 p.m. with storyteller and balladeer Susanna Holstein and musician J. David O’Dell.

Finally, the library will host a Teen Study Group Christmas party from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. and a Teen Movie Night from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20. The movie will be “Krampus” which is rated PG 13. It is open to all ages.
