ELKINS — In August of 2018 incoming Woman’s Club State President Pamela McCoy announced that her President’s Special Project would be the support of children’s hospitals across the state. In conjunction with this the Woman’s Club of Elkins has to date contributed more than $3,500 in monetary and in-kind donations to the WVU Children’s Hospital in Morgantown.

In September, club members Marijane Kiley and Dr. Mary Boyd traveled to Morgantown and presented checks totaling $1,300 to Lora Edgell, major gifts officer at WVU Children’s and Jason Hostetler, director of The Hostetler Family Resource Center, in support of the hospital. These funds were raised at a purse bingo held in June.

Edgell spoke to the club in November about plans for the new children’s hospital facility, adjacent to Ruby, which is projected to be completed in 2021.

Following her presentation, Boyd presented Edgell with more than $1,200 worth of items for young children and teens that the Woman’s Club members had donated at their “Shower of Love.” The toys, games, clothing and snack items will help make the children’s hospital stays more comfortable.
