ELKINS — During its first year of operation, the Elkins-Randolph County Tourism Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. worked diligently to create an organization that epitomizes the role a CVB should play in the economic growth and tourism expansion within Randolph County.

The organization recognizes that CVBs have a responsibility to be good stewards of the funds they receive and to work effectively towards growth. Likewise, countless businesses rely on the Elkins-Randolph County Tourism CVB to be a good and effective partner in the promotion and marketing of county in a manner that will benefit the community specifically and businesses in general.

This past year the CVB applied for accreditation based on their organizational structure and operational procedures, extensive digital and print marketing, comprehension communication, responsiveness to the public’s needs, and continuing education. After completing this all-encompassing application process, a state wide committee of tourism community members evaluated all aspects of the organization and awarded them the honor of Certified West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“We were very pleased and a bit surprise to be certified as such a young CVB. It speaks well for the vision and hard work put into the creation of this entity,” said Board President Sue Sheets.

Anne Beardslee, executive director, indicated that “This is a difficult accreditation process and I am very happy we were recognized for our accomplishments and our ability to become a full-service tourism operation in such a short time. It took a constant, concerted effort on everyone’s part to make this happen. Taira Landavere especially deserves a great deal of credit for her roll in the marketing of the area. We are eager to see where we can take this program in the future.”

The Elkins-Randolph County Tourism CVB is responsible for the operation of the Elkins Depot Welcome Center, the tourism related marketing for the county, a comprehensive events calendar and a county-wide website at elkinsrandolphwv.com.
