Harper seeking office of Randolph magistrate

Harper

ELKINS — Tracy Harper filed her certificate of announcement for Randolph County Magistrate Court, Division 1 on the first day of the filing period.

Harper, formerly of Beverly, currently resides in Elkins. Harper is a lifelong resident of Randolph County and has, with great excitement and anticipation, officially announced her candidacy for magistrate.

Harper said, “I have had the desire and have a strong commitment to serve the citizens of Randolph County. It has become a priority to me to make myself visible and available so that people have an opportunity to meet me and share their ideas, concerns and suggestions. I want the citizens of Randolph County to know that I am a sincere and genuine person who cares deeply for Randolph County and its citizens.”

She is married to Keith Harper, who is also a lifelong resident of Randolph County and is originally from Harman. Together they have four grown and successful children as well as three grandchildren.

Harper is a 20-year employee of Randolph County Schools. She has an endorsement as an autism mentor, holds a certificate for specialized health care and has the designation of supervisory aide. As an employee for public schools, she is a mandated reporter and has experience working with and communicating with CPS as well as an effective relationship with those employed in social services.

“I love working with the public and helping students with special needs as well as students who come from homes involving trauma,” Harper said.

She notes that situations she encounters now are certainly different from 10-20 years ago. She shares her concern for families that experience traumatic events and wishes to make a difference in their lives.

Harper and her husband own and operate a successful residential rental business. She states that working in this capacity enables her to have a better understanding and insight regarding business legalities. Her experience with magistrate court, law enforcement and working with attorneys has provided her with the knowledge and ability that will make her an excellent candidate for magistrate.

Expanding on her experience and knowledge of the school system and the rental business has provided her additional insight regarding those difficult decisions that must be made each day. She states that she is fully aware that those decisions may be life changing, and those decisions affect more than one person and many times several people that may be involved. Her firsthand experience with many of these situations would give her the ability to make sound judgments in magistrate court.

Harper emphasizes that her commitment and dedication to her position in the school system and as a business owner is indicative of the manner in which she would perform as a magistrate.

Harper loves spending time with family and friends. She and her husband enjoy a busy and productive life. They enjoy camping, boating, Harley riding and skeet shooting when time allows.

She states, “God has blessed me in all aspects of my life and I believe that He has provided me with the ability to learn and the strength to partake in an endeavor that will affect the lives of many.”

If elected as magistrate of Randolph County, she will demonstrate the ability to make fair, yet firm decisions, she said, and will listen attentively to each individual case and will be impartial and adhere to the law.

Harper said, “It would be an honor to serve the residents of Randolph County as magistrate. I would embrace this opportunity with enthusiasm and great energy. I would greatly appreciate your support in my endeavor to serve as magistrate of Randolph County. Thank you to everyone for their kind words of encouragement and continued support. Humbly, I am asking for your vote for magistrate of Randolph County on May 12.”
