WESTON — Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital is planning a Healthy Heart Fair taking place on Feb. 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The public is invited to participate to receive a free health screening. Screenings offered at the event include bone density, blood pressure, blood glucose, height, weight and pulse oximetry. Various vendors will be in attendance, including guest speakers scheduled to begin at noon in the SJMH Boardroom. Last year, close to 50 patients participated in the event with some sobering results.

“We were delighted with the turnout,” noted Cardiac Rehab Nurse Kristi Gannon. “We provided several extra screenings including one for depression. After seeing the numbers for that screening, I feel there is a great need for assistance with mental health in the area.”

There were also participants who were surprised by the results. One participant saw how much he weighed that day and was so shocked that he began a weight loss program and lost 60 pounds within an eight-month period.

“This is a free screening that is so important for people to find a simple state of their health. This is a great place to start improving your health,” concluded SJMH Marketing Director Julia Spelsberg.
