Barbour County assessor releases information
In response to the COVID-10 virus, the Barbour County Assessor’s office will be putting the following precautions in place as of March 23.
Only essential personnel will be permitted in the assessor’s office, except by appointment.
Most business can be handled by phone. in the rare event that it can’t, an appointment will be scheduled.
Personal property assessments can be taken over the phone by the assessor’s office and paid by mail or over the phone to the sheriff’s tax office.
Dog tag information can be taken over the phone and a check or money order made out to Assessor of Barbour County and mailed to the assessor’s office. Once payment is received, the office will mail the tags and receipt.
The number of breeding age sheep and goats can be taken over the phone. Payment can be mailed by check or money order made out to Assessor of Barbour County. Once the payment s received, the receipt will be mailed.
Real estate questions can be answered over the phone. In the event that a property needs reassessed, the information will be taken and the property will be reviewed once it is safe for employees and taxpayers.
