Randolph County assessor releases information

ELKINS — Randolph County Assessor Phyllis K. Yokum released the following information this week regarding the field review or real estate within the Valley Bend District, Beverly District, Beverly Corporation and Elkins Corporation.

“Appraisers for tax purposes from the Randolph County Assessor’s Office are currently doing data field reviews house to house in Valley Bend District, Beverly District and Beverly Corporation. Elkins Corporation is also included in this year’s cycle.

“This physical review helps us to keep your appraisal for tax purposes fair and equal and is required by the WV State Tax Department. Typically, the appraisers will knock on your door and let you know they are there to review your information.

“We are continuing to work in these areas, however, due to the coronavirus and the health of both the land owners and the employees, the appraisers will not be knocking on doors. They will be reviewing the information from a distance.

“Current information will be checked, new construction added and a new picture will be taken. Any new construction or buildings added within the last three years should be reported by calling the Assessor’s Office.

“It has never and is not now necessary to see inside your home. The vehicles are marked and have County license plates. It is still possible to personally talk with the appraisers by calling the Randolph County Assessor’s Office at 304-636-2114.

“We are trying to protect the citizens of our county and our employees, while we continue to do our jobs. Thank you for your cooperation.”
