Teachers and administrators from Randolph County Schools attended a hands-on workshop March 10 at the Days In Conference Center in Flatwoods.

The session was hosted by Dr. Jo Boaler and designed to assist educators with understanding and promoting mathematical mindsets and incorporating rich mathematics experiences in the classroom. Boaler is a professor of mathematics education at Stanford University and author of Mathematical Mindsets. She is the co-founder of Youcubed.org, which provides mathematics education resources to parents and teachers.

Boaler’s session was a continuation of the Summer 2019 Math4Life workshop series. Randolph County Schools will host additional follow-up sessions for the Math4Life series March 18 and 19. Those sessions, which will focus on differentiation and critical thinking strategies, will be presented by Dr. Richard Cash, president of nRich Educational Consulting and author of Advancing Differentiation.
