BONNIE’S BUS: Bonnie’s Bus, a digital mammography center on wheels, will offer digital mammograms and breast care education to women from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, St. George Medical Clinic in Parsons. SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT: West Virginia State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 6 p.m. to midnight today on State Route 92, west of Elkins near Crystal Spring, in Randolph County. The focus of this checkpoint is driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement, reckless driving, speeding and seatbelt violations. The West Virginia State Police encourages the public to use the State Police *SP (*77) system to report any violations.

BRIDGE DEDICATION: Bridge Dedication Ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Saturday to rename the Lazy Run Bridge on U.S. Route 219 north in Kerens in memory of U.S. Army Cpl. Russell Allen Taylor who was killed Aug. 26, 1969, while serving with D Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade, American DIV in Vietnam. CHICKEN BURN AND FLEA MARKET: The Harman Presbyterian Church will host a flea market, bake sale and the famous Dan Bucher barbecued chicken burn from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday outside the church. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for September, date TBD. SPAGHETTI DINNER: A benefit spaghetti dinner for accident victim Chris Howard will begin at noon Saturday at the Buckhannon Eagles. Dinner will consist of spaghetti, salad, dinner roll, dessert and drink. There also will be a raffle for a Henry Golden Boy 22.

MOATS REUNION: The annual reunion for the descendants of Maxwell and Bessie Collins Moats scheduled for September has been canceled and will hopefully will be rescheduled for September 2021. Check the Facebook site Moats/Collins and all the connected family names and newspaper next year.

INSIDE YARD SALE: Mt. Carmel Baptist Church’s Ladies Missionary Group will be hosting its annual inside yard sale from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sept. 4-5 at the church is located beside the Randolph County 4-H Camp in Beverly. They will also be practicing social distancing and you must wear a mask to enter the building. A limited amount of people will be allowed at one time. Sorry no clothes or stuff animals. The kitchen will be open with hot dogs and individually wrapped baked goods. All proceeds will benefit the Ladies Group’s annual mission goals. Yard sale will be held rain or shine.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: Whitmer Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner from noon – 6 p.m. Sept. 5. The meal will consist of spaghetti, sauce, green beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. NESTOR/KEISTER REUNION: The Nestor and Keister family reunion scheduled for Sept. 6 at the home Don and Kay Nestor on Clover Run has been canceled for 2020.

HAYMOND REUNION: The annual Haymond family reunion scheduled for Sept. 6 has been canceled and will be rescheduled for 2021.

STARKS/ARBOGAST/VANDEVENDER REUNION: The Robert A. Starks/Arbogast/Vandevender family reunion will begin at noon Sept. 6 at the pavilion behind the residence of Wilma Jolley in Bartow. WARE REUNION: The Ware family reunion scheduled for Sept. 6 on Ware’s Ridge in Valley Head has been canceled.

REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE: A consumer representative from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s Office will conduct public events throughout the north central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. Scheduled events are: from 11 a.m. to noon Sept. 23, Parsons Senior Center, 217 Senior Lane, Parsons; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29, Upshur County Senior Center front porch, 28 N. FOOTBALL FRENZY TICKET SALES: Knights of Columbus Council 603 will hold its annual Football Frenzy ticket sales through Oct. 23. A total of 90 cash prizes will be paid out over 10 weeks between Nov. 1 and Jan. 3. If two tickets are purchased, the purchaser may go to the Football Frenzy website listed on the ticket stub to sign up to receive one free ticket.
