MOATS REUNION: The annual reunion for the descendants of Maxwell and Bessie Collins Moats scheduled for September has been canceled and will hopefully will be rescheduled for September 2021. Check the Facebook site Moats/Collins and all the connected family names and newspaper next year.

INSIDE YARD SALE: Mt. Carmel Baptist Church’s Ladies Missionary Group will be hosting its annual inside yard sale from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. today at the church is located beside the Randolph County 4-H Camp in Beverly. They will also be practicing social distancing and you must wear a mask to enter the building. A limited amount of people will be allowed at one time. Sorry no clothes or stuff animals. The kitchen will be open with hot dogs and individually wrapped baked goods. All proceeds will benefit the Ladies Group’s annual mission goals. Yard sale will be held rain or shine.

BRIDGE DEDICATION: Bridge Dedication Ceremony will be at 11 a.m. today to rename the Isner Creek Bridge on the Beverly Five-lane in Elkins in memory of U.S. Marine Corps LCpl. Fred Michael Kerns who was killed July 29, 1969, while serving with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 167 (HML-167), Marine Air Group 16 (MAG-16), 1st Marine Air Wing, Third Marine Amphibious Force in Vietnam. The bridge is located near Sheetz on the Beverly Five-lane. For more information, call 304-636-4365.

YARD SALE: Warriors in the Field will host a yard sale today at All American Auto Center on the Beverly Five-lane as a fundraiser for veterans. All items will be sold by donations only; nothing will be priced. Donations of items for the yard sale will be accepted, but no clothes please. CHENOWETH REUNION: The 2020 Chenoweth family reunion scheduled for today has been postponed.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: Whitmer Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner from noon – 6 p.m. today. The meal will consist of spaghetti, sauce, green beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. SPONAUGLE REUNION: The Sponaugle family reunion scheduled for Sunday at the Historic Circleville High has been canceled for 2020.

NESTOR/KEISTER REUNION: The Nestor and Keister family reunion scheduled for Sunday at the home Don and Kay Nestor on Clover Run has been canceled for 2020.

HAYMOND REUNION: The annual Haymond family reunion scheduled for Sunday has been canceled and will be rescheduled for 2021.

STARKS/ARBOGAST/VANDEVENDER REUNION: The Robert A. Starks/Arbogast/Vandevender family reunion will begin at noon Sunday at the pavilion behind the residence of Wilma Jolley in Bartow. WARE REUNION: The Ware family reunion scheduled for Sunday on Ware’s Ridge in Valley Head has been canceled.

THOMPSON REUNION: The reunion of the family of Dillion and Hettie Thompson scheduled for Sunday has been canceled and rescheduled for Sept. 5, 2021.

REVIVAL: Blue Rock Church will host a revival Sunday through Sept. 7. Events begin at 7 p.m. every evening and will feature special singing and preaching. Everyone is welcome.

AIRPORT AUTHORITY: The Elkins-Randolph Co. Regional Airport Authority will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. at the airport terminal building.

REGION VI FULL BOARD MEETING: Region VI Workforce Development Full Board will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Marion County Convention & Visitors Bureau in Pleasant Valley. For more information, call Maria Larry at 304-368-9530.

SCARECROW DAYS FOR DOWNTOWN ELKINS: Free materials for building a scarecrow will be distributed on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from DelMonte Market front porch. Social distancing and facial coverings are required. Curbside deliver can be arranged by calling 304-621-8148 or 304-940-1590 on Friday; 304-642-9236 or 304-940-0243 on Saturday. Scarecrows completed by groups, families or individuals are to be returned to Elkins Builders Supply Oct. 5,6,7 or 8 during business hours. RAMP DINNER: New Life Church is hosting a ramp dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 12. Dinner will be carry-out only and consist of white or brown beans, cornbread, ham, fried potatoes and ramps fried in bacon grease. For more information call Harvey Taylor at 304-338-2087.

VIRTUAL EVENT: The Beverly Heritage center is hosting a “Learn how to make Prohibition-era Cocktails’ live stream at 6 p.m. in Sept. 18 for free on the group’s Facebook page.

MEAT SHOOT: VFW Post 5781 will host a meat shoot on 19 Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the post home in Harman. Refreshments will be provided. For information contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349.

FUNDRAISER: The Harman Presbyterian Church will hold a flea market, bake sale and chicken burn on Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The chicken burn will be available after 11 a.m. and will consist of a half chicken, roll and drink. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon on Sept. 19 at the lodge hall on the Beverly Five-lane. The menu will consist of sourdough buckwheat pancakes, biscuits and grave, sausage, milk, coffee or orange juice. Eggs will also be available. Carry outs welcome.

REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE: A consumer representative from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s Office will conduct public events throughout the north central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. Scheduled events are: from 11 a.m. to noon Sept. 23, Parsons Senior Center, 217 Senior Lane, Parsons; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29, Upshur County Senior Center front porch, 28 N. Kanawha St., Buckhannon; and noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 30, Randolph County Commission Meeting Room, 4 Randolph Ave., Elkins. The sessions are open to the public; reservations are not required. PERFORMANCE: The Beverly Heritage Center will host Jason Hall performing music free on at the center on Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. The event is free to the public. Donations will be accepted.

FALL CRAFT SHOW: A Fall Craft Show will be hosted by the Homestead Community and Event Center on Saturday, Sep. 26 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Direct sales vendors, crafters/artisans, flea market/yard sales and food trucks welcome. This will be an outdoor event, rain or shine. We ask that guidelines be respected with masks and social distancing. No pets allowed; registered service animals only. GUIDED TOUR: The Beverly Heritage Center is offering a guided tour of the Rich Mountain Battlefield on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. Te event is free to the public and donations will be accepted.

Lantern TOURS: The Beverly Heritage Center will be offering Lantern Tours on Oct. 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7 p.m. Advanced reservations are preferred, Groups will be limited to 25 people. For ticket pricing and to make reservations please call 304-637-7424.

FOOTBALL FRENZY TICKET SALES: Knights of Columbus Council 603 will hold its annual Football Frenzy ticket sales through Oct. 23. A total of 90 cash prizes will be paid out over 10 weeks between Nov. 1 and Jan. 3. If two tickets are purchased, the purchaser may go to the Football Frenzy website listed on the ticket stub to sign up to receive one free ticket. REVIVAL: A revival is set for the first Thursday of the month through December from 6-8 p.m. at Jawbone Park in Buckhannon. Speakers include Delane McDaniel, with the Key to Life Prison Ministry and Mike House, with the Ambassador Baptist Church and Elkins Christian Academy.
