Scholarship will support students in financial need
BUCKHANNON — On Friday, Oct. 2 Founders Day 2020, West Virginia Wesleyan College announced the creation of the Robert “Bob” N. Skinner II (’75) Scholarship, which will support students attending WVWC with financial need. The scholarship was created by Jason Fiegel, (’00), who delivered the Founders Day 2020 keynote address.
“I’m pleased to share with you the creation of the Robert N. Skinner II scholarship in honor of my good friend, Bob Skinner,” Fiegel said. “Few have embodied the Wesleyan promise as completely as Bob Skinner.”
“Bob and his family have contributed to the College in ways that will positively impact the lives of all of us for years to come,” Fiegel added.
Skinner’s reputation is well-known throughout Wesleyan circles, spanning generations of students and families.
“Bob Skinner is a household name within the Wesleyan family,” said Talley Sergent, chief development and marketing officer. “Bob’s life’s work has positively shaped, supported and challenged generations of Wesleyan students. And, he will continue to do so through this scholarship.”
Skinner first learned of the new scholarship from Fiegel in the lead-up to Founders Day 2020.
“I am humbled and immensely grateful to have a scholarship named in my honor,” Skinner said.“Wesleyan has a rich tradition of excellence and has transformed lives since its founding 130 years ago.
