AmeriCorps staff cleans up Darden House grounds
ELKINS — On April 13, the AmeriCorps Senior Staff from the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, MOVRC Parkersburg Office, in collaboration with Elkins Make It Shine, came together and cleaned up the grounds of the Darden House.
Katie McClain also participated in the clean up. This area was chosen due to the programs utilizing the Darden House for an office space that houses Michelle Row Williams, MOVRC program coordinator for FGP and SCP, and for their appreciation for the area.
Maryann Durland, president of the Elkins Historic Landmarks Commission said, “EHLC appreciates so much the initiative that Michelle, Janet, Becky and Tammy from MOVRC made with the cleaning up around the Darden House. The Darden House is a special place in Elkins. Currently, we rent office space and hopefully in the future it will be a venue for community and citizen activities. Volunteers are what help us keep moving forward with our goals. EHLC is grateful for the time and effort these volunteers made.”
