Volunteers, instructors needed at The Arts Center
ELKINS — On Sunday, from 1-3 p.m., The Arts Center will host an informational open house for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or instructor for The Arts Center.
“Volunteers are necessary for us to carry out our mission of enhancing the cultural and economic life of our region by providing facilities and programming that will educate, entertain, and inspire all of our citizens,” said Judy Van Gundy, Vice President and chair of the Volunteer Committee at The Arts Center.
“There are so many ways that volunteers can help us fulfill that mission,” Van Gundy said. “Some of the volunteer opportunities include assisting with the hanging of new art exhibits, helping to send out mailings, baking (to keep our cookie jar full for events), sitting for a few hours with an exhibit, and assisting us with our monthly Brown Bag concerts.”
Instructors are also essential in carrying out The Arts Center’s work for the community. The Arts Center offers a variety of opportunities for teaching at all levels. Weekly classes, after-school classes for children, and weekend workshops are all offered throughout the year at The Arts Center. The possibilities are what the instructor would like to teach. Teachers are compensated with an hourly wage and basic supplies are provided by The Arts Center.
“Many hands make light work,” Van Gundy said. “Please join us to find out how you can make the work lighter. Stop by to find out how you can contribute your time and effort to help maintain the quality of our events and exhibits, and keep The Arts Center a valuable and vibrant part of our community.”
