HOMESTEAD WORK DAY: Workers are needed at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. to help with improvement projects including completion of the fence around the walking trail, painting the goalposts on the football field, and helping to clear rocks and debris from a freshly plowed community garden space. BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a Brown Bag Concert noon Wednesday. Singer, guitarist, and artist Chet Lowther will perform a mix of country-influenced blues at The Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public.

BOWLFEST: The Arts Center will host Bowlfest 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will have a choice of Thai or Chinese noodles, plus your choice of a handmade, artisan ceramic bowl made by one of our talented artists for $20.

USED BOOK SALE: The Elkins Bookhounds, Friends of the Elkins- Randolph County Public Library will hold a used book sale July 23 – July 24 at the Elkins YMCA at 400 Davis Ave., next to the library. Hours for the sale are from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday. Come and pick up some great reading material for a donation and join the Elkins Bookhounds. Membership and renewal forms are available at the sale or in the library. Beginning on July 1, donations of gently used books in good condition may be dropped off at The Elkins/ Randolph County Public Library. No dated material such as textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines or damaged books will be accepted for the sale.

INDOOR YARD SALE: An indoor yard sale nice with air conditioned ground floor entry at Elkins VFW social hall will be July 24 10-5 tables are $20 each and area. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Calvary Assembly of God on Route 219 in Valley Head will be having Vacation Bible School 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 27-30, from. THE TYGART VALLEY CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION: Will be holding their 24th annual Hunting Heritage Banquet on Aug. 7 at the Gandy Theatre. ELKINS PURPLE MAJESTIES: All “nifty after fifty” ladies are invited to join the Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hats for their monthly luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 9, at Lambert’s Winery in Weston. The menu includes steak hoagie with peppers and onions, potato wedges, Caesar salad, beverages and blueberry wine cake for dessert. PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: Pickin’ in the Park will take place each week at Elkins City Park on Wednesday nights co-sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center and Elkins Parks & Recreation. The country music jam Sessions take place from 5-7 p.m. or later in the Small Pavilion. The old-time music jam sessions are in the raised Sycamore Street Pavilion from 7-9 p.m. or later. All acoustic instruments are welcome, as well as singers, dancers and listeners.
