Red Hats gather at Adaland Mansion
ELKINS — The Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hats hosted their second luncheon this year on Monday, July 9, at Adaland Mansion in Philippi. Charlotte Thomas, Gerri Rosencrance and BJ McKenzie arranged this second luncheon also as our duchess sign up was not conducive to duchesses who signed up prior to the pandemic.
After a short business meeting, Queen Mother BJ asked the blessing then staff and volunteers of the mansion served a delicious roast beef lunch.
The traditional warning was led by Connie Collins. July birthdays included Majesty Charlotte Thomas, who was serenaded by members on their kazoos.
Members played a card game called last “woman” standing and the lucky winner was Kit Phillips. Prize tickets were drawn and three lucky ladies won assorted prizes.
The next Purple Majesties luncheon will be held on Monday, August 9, at Lambert’s Winery in Weston. Members can look forward to a delicious lunch on the beautiful front porch. The menu is steak hoagie, potato wedges, Caesar salad and blueberry wine cake for dessert.
To join this fun loving “nifty after 50” group or make a reservation for the July luncheon, please call Queen Mother B.J. McKenzie at 304-614-3079. Guests and new members are always welcome. Reservations must be made on or before Aug. 2.
