TYGART VALLEY HOMESTEAD ASSOCIATION: Tygart Valley Homestead Association will meet 6 p.m. today at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. All are invited and community residents are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Tom Rennix, president, at 304-940-1855.

LIVE ON THE LAWN: Join the Beverly Heritage Center for a free outdoor concert 5:30 to 7 :30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, with local favorite Jason Hall. Bring your own chair and favorite refreshments.

FREE AIR RIFLE SHOOTING EVENT: The Mountaineer Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America will host an air rifle shooting event Saturday. This event is free and open to kids ages 8-17 years old. The event will take place at the Tygarts Valley Muzzleloaders’ shooting range, past the IWLA Clubhouse on the left. The IWLA Clubhouse is located approximately 6 miles straight up Files Creek Road in Beverly. All kids must register before 9 a.m. to be eligible for prizes at the end of the event. Registration will take place at the shooting range at 8:45 a.m., with the event starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday. For more information please call 304-338-6025.

BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the lodge hall on the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough breakfast cakes, regular pancakes, sausage biscuits and gravy, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice. Carryouts will be available.

MEAT SHOOT: VFW Post No. 5781 will host a meat shoot on Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the post home in Harman. For information contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349. The next shoot will be held Oct. 17.

WSSAC COACHING EDUCATION CLASS: The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission is conducting Coaching Education Classes at Union High School in Mount Storm on Sept. 28, 29, and 30 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.. The Instructor will be current UHS Athletic Director/Coach Jamie Tallman. Those individuals that are not otherwise qualified by the West Virginia Department of Education and wish to coach any sport at the high school or middle school level in West Virginia is required to take these classes. RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: The September meeting of the Randolph County Association of Retired School Personnel has been cancelled. Plans for the October meeting will be forthcoming.

CHICKEN DINNER: Good Shepherd Christian Academy is having a chicken burn Oct. 2 at Mountaineer Insurance in Elkins. The price is $10 meal includes a half Chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll, brownie and a bottle of water. Chicken will be ready by 11 a.m. to pre-order tickets please call or text 304-642-1481.

LANTERN TOURS: Tales of the spooky and mysterious — come join the ever-popular Lantern Tours on Oct. 8,9,15 and 16 at the Beverly Heritage Center. Host Karl takes the group on a nighttime walking tour of Beverly with only the light of lanterns to guide our way. For tickets see our events calendar at beverlyheritagecenter.org

PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: Pickin’ in the Park will take place each week at Elkins City Park on Wednesday nights co-sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center and Elkins Parks & Recreation. The country music jam Sessions take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. or later in the Small Pavilion. The old-time music jam sessions are in the raised Sycamore Street Pavilion from 6:30-8:30 p.m. or later. All acoustic instruments are welcome, as well as singers, dancers and listeners.
