Belington Wellness Center set to offer 10th annual Turkey Trot

BELINGTON — Barbour Community Health Association’s Belington Wellness Center will offer its 10th annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Each year, this event benefits the Heart and Hand House and Belington Presbyterian Church, organizations that give back to the Barbour County communities in various ways.

The 5k walk/run will be held at the Belington Wellness Center, at 70 N. Sturmer Street, on a mostly flat course. The Turkey Trot is open to walkers and runners of all ages. Participants will be divided by age, as follows: 10 and under, 11 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and up.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.: Registration

9 a.m.: 5K Turkey Trot Begins

9:15 a.m.: 1-mile Fun Trot Begins

10:15 a.m.: Race awards ceremony and raffle giveaway

“We’re thrilled to be able to host this event once again as it benefits so many in the community,” said Scott Nesland, PA-C of Myers Clinic. “The Heart and Hand House and Belington Presbyterian Church do so much for the communities of the county, such as serving hundreds of residents during Thanksgiving. We would not pass up on an opportunity to help out.”

Awards will be presented to top finishers in the seven age categories following the 5K race, as well as a turkey awarded to the overall male and female winner. Awards will also be presented to participants with the top three best fall-themed outfits.

To register, interested participants should call Belington Wellness Center at 304-823-1800 or email snesland@barbourhealth.org.
