EDITOR’S NOTE: The Datebook is reserved for nonprofit, civic organizations. Unless otherwise noted, events listed should be considered free and open to the public. FRUIT SALE: The Elkins Area Bands annual Citrus Fruit Sale is now through Nov. 1. Please see any Elkins High or Middle school band student to order or call 304-636-2721. Pick up is Dec. 3 at Elkins High School band room from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.

HEALTH FAIR: Valley Health Care will be hosting a Health Fair at the Beverly Fire Hall on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Regular and high-dose flu vaccines will be available at the event. VHC will also be doing basic lab screenings at the fair. Fasting is required for some of the screenings. No appointment is necessary and for more information call 304-636-0133.

HALLOWEEN HUSTLE: Beverly Elementary School will host the Halloween Hustle 5KFriday at the Elkins Town Square. Register online at www.raceentry.com/races/halloween-hustle/2021/register. .

HEALTH SCREENING: The Elkins Kiwanis is sponsoring their Health Awareness Screening Saturday at the Randolph County Senior Center from 7- 10 a.m. For more information please call 1-800-524-3414.

EHS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: will be holding 5K Run/Walk and a 1 Mile Kids’ Fun Run on Saturday. The 5K will begin at 3 p.m. The 1 Mile Kids’ Fun Run will begin at 2 p.m. Registration for both events will start at 1 p.m. and is $20 per person for the 5K and $5 per child for the fun run. Every pre-registered 5k participant will receive a free T-shirt. You can get registration forms from any EHS National Honor Society member or you can email agbelan1@yahoo.com or sburda@k12.wv.us to receive a form.

TRUNK OR TREAT: One Hope Covenant Church (formerly known as New Community- Elkins) will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Elkins Railyard. In order to provide a fun yet safe alternative to the traditional trunk-or treat, members and volunteers from the church and community will park around the square to serve as a drive-thru trunk-or-treat. Admission will be one can of food or winter item per vehicle (scarves, gloves, coats, etc.). Each “trunk” volunteer will be required to wear a face covering and use hand sanitizer in between each vehicle in order to ensure everyone’s safety. Children and adults are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes as they share in the fun and excitement of collecting candy, school supplies and other goodies. RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will host their October meeting 12:30 p.m. Oct. 29, at the Steer Steakhouse in Elkins. Bring items for the scholarship auction. Program to include legislators visit and memorial Service. For more information call 304-636-7649.

PIZZA SALE: The Whitmer Methodist Church will be holding a Pizza sale on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The homemade pizza is offered as takeout only and the cost is $10 for a pepperoni and cheese pizza, and $12 for a pizza with everything. For more information call 304-227-4798.

ROARING CREEK FRIENDS OF THE NRA: will offer a fundraising banquet on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins. ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at the library of the IOOF Lodge located on the Beverly Five-lane. Anyone interested in genealogy is encouraged to attend and become a member of ARFHS. Until further notice, the libarary will be open on Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. Other days by appointment. HELPING HAND CLEARINGHOUSE: is collecting names of needy children for the FOP Christmas Party, Randolph County only. Children 12 and under. Must provide proof of income. The deadline is Nov. 10. The hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at 105 First Street.

AL-ANON: Meets at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church every Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.

SUPPORT GROUP: The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) of West Virginia is hosting a support group for veterans with depression and bipolar disorder on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Elkins VFW from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more information contact John Riley at 304-376-3213 or email at siuwvuman@aol.com.
