EDITOR’S NOTE: The Datebook is reserved for nonprofit, civic organizations. Unless otherwise noted, events listed should be considered free and open to the public. Because of numerous entries, items may appear for only one week. Entries appear in chronological order and as there is space. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: The Randolph County Democratic Women are hosting a holiday open house for members and friends at the Kump Education Center on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 7p.m.. Attendees are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Tableware and drinks will be provided. We will also be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items for the blessing boxes. CRAFT SALE: The Orlena United Methodist Church will host a craft sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4. There will be soups, hot dogs and sandwiches available for purchase.

CRAFT SHOW & BAZAAR: The Elkins Christian Academy in Glenmore will host a craft show and bazaar 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Crafters and Vendors from all over West Virginia will be in attendance. There will have a bake sale and hot dogs with homemade chili will be for purchase. There will be a silent auction with beautiful theme baskets and hundreds of donated items just in time for Christmas.

ARTIST MARKET: The Arts Center annual Artists Market will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. There will be ceramics, ornaments, art, prints, and other handmade items by over a dozen local artisans.

CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON AND SALE: The annual Beverly Presbyterian Church Christmas Luncheon will be Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. The homemade lunch, $7.00, includes soup, sandwich, drink, and dessert. Other items for sale will be delicious baked goods, canned goods, and our popular homemade Christmas Cookie Trays. Seating will be limited but take-out is available This event is part of the annual Old Fashioned Beverly Christmas.

CHRISTMAS DINNER BASKETS: American Legion Post 29 will be accepting applications for Christmas dinner baskets, for Randolph County residents only, on the following dates and times Dec. 6 through Dec. 10 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proof of your physical residency, ID, and all forms of income you receive is required. Applications must be filled out in the office and cannot leave the building. Applications do not guarantee you will be chosen to receive a dinner, and preference will be given to military families. Baskets will be given out Dec. 18. Letters to recipients will be mailed out beginning Dec. 13. Fore more information call 636-3930.

FULL BOARD MEETING: The Region VI Workforce Development Full Board will meet Thursday, Dec. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Marion County Convention & Visitors Bureau located in Pleasant Valley. For more information about the meeting, contact Maria Larry at 304-368-9530.

RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: The December meeting of The Randolph County Association of Retired School Personnel will meet Friday, Dec.10, at 12:30 pm at the Steer Steakhouse in Elkins. CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY: The American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary will be hosting a Children’s Christmas Party on Dec. 11 from 1- 4 p.m. for children ages 11 years and under. There will be snacks, crafts and of course, Santa.

BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a Brown Bag Concert noon Wednesday, Dec.15. Singer and pianist Raymond Godwin will perform and his show will feature many of your favorite Christmas songs, and quite possibly an appearance by Santa Claus himself. This event is free and open to the public.
