4 TVHS students make WVU Honor Bands

MILL CREEK — Four Tygarts Valley Band members have been selected to participate in the annual WVU Invitational High School Honor Bands Weekend Feb. 10-12.

Angelina Certo (trumpet), Amanda Cutlip (clarinet), Mckennize Moore (clarinet) and Hunter Pike (tenor saxophone) will be performing with high school students from 5 different states.

The West Virginia University Invitational High School Honor Bands is a two-day event for high school band students. Selected students are placed into one of three clinic bands based on a brief audition held at the beginning of the event.

These bands rehearse throughout the two days of the clinic and present a final performance on Saturday. In addition to working with outstanding nationally-known conductors, students are treated to a performance by the WVU Wind Symphony and also have the opportunity to participate in masterclasses offered by members of the WVU School of Music faculty.
