Because of numerous entries, items may appear for only one week. Entries appear in chronological order and as there is space. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Orlena United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner noon to 6 p.m. today. The church is located along the Old Parsons Road in Gilman. The menu will consist of spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and a drink. Tickets are $10 and adult and $5 for ages 12 and under. For more information call 304-614-4101.

CIVIL WAR SYMPOSIUM: The annual Civil War Symposium hosted by Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation returns on today. This year’s theme is ‘Rascals, Rangers, and Swamp Dragons: Civil War Irregulars’ and will feature presentations by Civil War historians and local authors. The event will take place in the IOOF Hall in Beverly (across from Town Square and above the Rusty Spinner). REVIVAL: Markley Memorial Chapel will host a revival April 3-10. Sunday activities will begin at 6 p.m. and Monday through Saturday at 7 p.m. There will be special signing each night and evangelist Chuck Swiney. STRAWBERRY SALE: The Elkins Area Band Auxiliary Annual Strawberry Sale will be held through April 8. Order from any Elkins High or Elkins Middle School Band student or call 304-636-2721 Pick-up will be May 13 at Elkins Fire Department from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

ELKINS LIONS CHICKEN BARBECUE:The Lions Club of Elkins, WV will have a Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, April 9, at the parking lot of the Davis Medical Building (former IGA) on Randolph Ave. The meal will include half a chicken, 2 side items, roll, dessert, and bottled water. The meals will be ready for drive-thru pickup by 11 a.m.

LINCOLN DAY DINNER: The Randolph County Republican Executive Committee will hold their Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, April 9, at Camp Pioneer. Social Hour at 4 p.m. Dinner at 5 p.m. Keynote Speaker will be West Virginia Treasurer. For costs and more information call 304-636-1019.

STREAM CLEAN-UP: There will be a Spring Stream clean-up on Bridgewater Lane on Saturday, April 9. About 10 volunteers are needed to help pick up roadside litter and clean up the stream. The group will meet at 10 a.m. Trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers are available to use. Please wear boots or waterproof shoes. The stream is not deep, but it could be muddy. SPAY-GHETTI DINNER: The Randolph County Humane Society is hosting the return of its popular Spay-ghetti dinner! The 10th annual event is scheduled for April 9, 4-7 p.m., at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church for take-out only. Partnering with the St. Patrick’s Guild of Coalton, tickets are available online at www.rchswv.org or in person at the shelter, Fancy Paws, Appalachian Animal Hospital, Allegheny Veterinary Services, Katie Bright CPA or Board members.

HOMESTEAD BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: is scheduled for April 9 from 7 a.m.-noon at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. The menu includes all you can eat sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee, juice and milk. The event is hosted by Home of the Soul Family Worship in partnership with the Tygart Valley Homestead Association. Dine in or carry out. Proceeds support the Tygart Valley High School graduation lock in. The following spring Buckwheat/Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for May 7.

DUCKS UNLIMITED BANQUET: Will be held April 9 the Gandy Dancer Theater and Conference Center on the Beverly Pike. Festivities include raffles, games, open bar, banquet, and silent and live auctions. EASTER EGG HUNT: The American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary will host an Easter Egg Hunt 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Ekins Town Square. The hunt will be done according to egg hunts ages 2-4, 5-8 and 9-12. The Easter Bunny will be present for pictures (bring your own camera). Also, bring your own basket to collect your eggs.

RALLY: Otterbein United Methodist Church located at 1100 South Davis Ave. in Elkins will sponsor a “He Is Risen” rally for area children on Saturday, April 9, from 1-3 p.m. The drive thru rally will take place in back of Otterbein UM Church. Children must be present to receive the treat bag.

ALLEGEHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HaISTORY SOCIETY: will meet 7 p.m. April 12 in the library at the IOOF Building located on the Beverly FIve-lane. Anyone interested in genealogy is encouraged to attend and become a member. The library will be open on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and other days by appointment. MASTER NATURALIST WOLF TALK: The Tygart Valley Master Naturalist Program is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Ed Michael, “History of West Virginia Coyotes and Wolves,” Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at the WV Division of Natural Resources Operations Center, 738 Ward Road. The program is free and open to the public. There will also be information about the WV Master Naturalist education certification program (mnofwv.org). New classes begin this spring. IOOF BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge will host a buckwheat and pancake breakfast on April 16 at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane from 7 a.m. to Noon. Menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, coffee, mile or orange juice. Apple butter while also be available.

COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT: On Saturday, April 16, First United Methodist Church of Elkins will be hosting a free community Easter Egg Hunt. All children are invited. The event begins at 1 p.m. at Glendale Park in Elkins. Parents/Guardians please stay with your children and look for a table set up toward the end of the park to get your child started with a goodie bag before they begin their hunt.

BIG GAME BANQUET: The Monongahela Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will host a Big Game Banquet on April 23 at the Beverly Fire Department. Doors will open at 5 p.m. For more information, call 304-282-9627.

MEET THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CANDIDATES NIGHT: The Randolph County Democratic Women’s Club is sponsoring an opportunity for constituents to meet all the non-partisan candidates for the Randolph County Board of Education Wednesday, April 27, at the Homestead Community Center in Dailey from 6-8 p.m. Democratic candidates for other offices will be invited to attend. EARTH DAY TREE PLANTING/CITY PARK CLEAN-UP: Join Elkins Friends of Trees and Elkins Parks and Recreation volunteers in planting new young trees and other clean-up/gardening projects in the Elkins City Park Friday, April 22, beginning at 11 a.m. Meet at the large pavilion. Bring gloves and gardening tools if you have them, but some will be available. Dress for appropriate weather; the event takes place rain or shine. ADULT SPELLING BEE: GFWC Woman’s Club of Elkins will host the event from 6-9 p.m. at the Randolph County Senior Center. All proceeds will support the club’s scholarship fund. To enroll a team or be a sponsor, please contact them via their Facebook page or call 304-636-5743 and leave a message.

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION: The City of Elkins Tree Board official recognition of Arbor Day will take place Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Glendale Park. The event includes the Mayor’s proclamation of Arbor Day and the planting of a tree donated by the West Virginia Division of Forestry. EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: An afternoon of celebrating the planet will be Saturday, April 30, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Elkins City Park. The event is sponsored by the Women’s Club of Elkins, the Randolph County Democratic Women’s Club, the Elkins Tree Board and the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission. There will be children’s activities, displays, interactive games, tree seedlings and reusable totes giveaways. The poster and poet-tree contests winners will be announced.
