FUNDRAISING EVENT: A Volunteer Services Fundraising Event at Davis Medical Center — Books Are Fun — Book and Gift Sale will be today from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Marketplace Lobby of Davis Medical Center.

TYGART VALLEY HOMESTEAD ASSOCIATION: board of directors will meet today at 5 p.m. in the dining hall at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey.

HOMESTEAD COMMUNITY CENTER MEETING: is scheduled for today at 6 p.m. in the dining hall at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. Members and community residents are encouraged to attend.

BABY PANTRY: The Randolph County Family Resource Network will host a Baby Pantry on Feb.10 at the Phil Gainer Center in Elkins. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m.. Diapers, wipes, formula, baby clothing and hygiene items available. For all Randolph County children under the age of 5.

CHOCOLATE EVENT: The Beverly Heritage Center will be hosting “Chocolate: A Lover’s History” on Friday, February 11 at 1 p.m. There will be a presentation and a chance to taste some historic recipes. For members of the Beverly Heritage Center the event is free, there will be a donation required non-members.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: There will be spaghetti dinner fundraiser for EABA Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Elkins Nazarene Church. Entertainment by EHS Jazz Band and Michael Bonnet & Rivers Edge. Proceeds Benefit EHS and EMS school bands.

SUPER BOWL SUBS: The Knights of Columbus Council 603 will be offering Italian sausage subs with peppers, sauce and cheese. Call 304-634-7451 to order and pick-up will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Brendan Hall.

SCHOLARSHIP SEMINAR: The Highland Adventist School will host a free Hope Scholarship Information Seminar at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16. Reserve a seat by calling 304-636-4274 and leaving a message or email highlandadventistschool@gmail.com.

MEATBALL HOAGIE FUNDRAISER: The Tygart Valley United Way will host a meatball hoagie fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17. The fundraiser will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Elkins and carry-out and local delivery will be available. The St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild of Coalton will prepare the hoagies. VERA BRADLEY PURSE BINGO: will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Beverly Fire Department. Doors open at noon and games begin at 1 p.m. 20 bingo games, 1 blackout game, silent auction. Tip games and light concessions will be available for purchase. Contact 304-940-6966 for information. Any unsold tickets will be available for walk-in purchase on that day. All proceeds benefit the EHS baseball team.

BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph County IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the lodge hall along the Beverly Five-lane Saturday, Feb. 18, from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk or orange juice. Carry-outs will be available.

WINTER WALK: The Elkins Tree Board is sponsoring a Winter Walk, Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at Glendale Park, Elkins. The public will learn how to identify trees by bark, twigs, shape and fruit during this free workshop led by tree board forester Linda Burke. When leaves are no longer present on trees, it can be a daunting task learning to identify trees in the winter. However, there are features other than leaves that can help differentiate tree species from one another. Also on hand will be birder Jim Fregonara to assist with bird identification along the way. Participants should meet at the first pavilion at the entrance of Glendale Park. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. Check Elkins Friends of Trees FB page for any weather-related updates.

PANCAKE SUPPER: There will be a pancake supper held at the Corley United Methodist Church on Feb. 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This fund-raising event benefits the free DaySpring Day Camp to be held this summer. The Corley UM Church is located on the Barbour County Highway (Rt. 250) near the Philippi side of the 3-lane. The supper is eat-in or carry-out. Pancakes, Preston County sausage, applesauce, and beverages will be served.

HOMESTEAD BISCUIT/SAUSAGE GRAVY BREAKFAST: is scheduled for Feb. 25 from 7 a.m. to noon, or sold out. Dine in at the Homestead Community and Event Center dining hall or carry out. The menu includes made from scratch biscuits and sausage gravy (prepared by C&J’s restaurant owners Cheri and Janice), scrambled eggs, home fries, warm apple slices, coffee, orange juice or milk. Two options will be offered — a two biscuit meal or a one biscuit meal. Veterans eat free, dine-on only, subsidized by Mountaineer Food Bank grant funding. BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER: The Harman Senior Center will host a breakfast fundraiser on Feb. 26 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The menu will consist of two biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and juice. Cinnamon rolls will be available for purchase.

MASTER GARDENER CLASS: WVU Extension Service is offering an online Master Gardener certification class beginning on March 2. Classes will be shown over the Zoom format every Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. for 17 weeks. Students will then need to perform 40 volunteer gardening-related activities over the following year to earn certification as a Master Gardener. A local association is available to help students earn those hours. Call the Randolph County extension office at 304-636-2455 for registration information.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PICKING: Jam sessions sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center at the Boiler House Theater at Davis & Elkins College will be on Wednesdays.
