RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: will meet on Tuesday, January 14 at 5 p.m. at the Kump Education Center on Randolph Avenue in Elkins. There will be a brief business meeting followed by a time of idea sharing. Members and friends will be notified should the weather cause a change of plans. Everyone is welcome to attend. AIRPORT AUTHORITY: The Elkins-Randolph County. Regional Airport Authority will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 5 p.m. at the airport terminal building.

WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: Augusta Heritage Center’s Jam Sessions will once again take place every week in the new Augusta Music & Dance Hall, located at 303 Davis Avenue in Elkins. Open to pickers and singers of all levels (as well as listeners), the Country Music Jams are from 4-6 p.m., and Old Time Jams follow, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 304-642-2369.

BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the lodge hall along the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include buckwheat cakes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, mile and orange juice. Take outs will be available.

PANCAKE FEED: The Tygart Valley Scottish Rite Masons are teaming up with the Beverly United Methodist Church for a Pancake Feed on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 7 a.m. until noon. The Feed will be held at the Beverly United Methodist Church and will feature buckwheat or regular pancakes, eggs, sausage, sausage gravy and a drink. dine-in or carryout is available.

FREE MONTHLY TREE TALKS: begin Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. The lectures are sponsored by the Elkins Tree Board and the KEC. Topics are: 1/22, “Witness Trees of the Monongahela National Forest” by Melissa Thomas-Van Gundy, USDA Forest Service; 2/26, “Under Pressure: A Tale of Two Salamanders” by Lacy Rucker, USDA Forest Service; 3/26, “Fungi and their Relationship with Plants” with Kristen Wickert, WV Mushroom Club; and 4/23, “Stress, Strain and Trees: An Introduction to Tree Mechanics” by Ken Beezley, D&E.
