Elkins City Hall News

ELKINS — Meeting next week are Council’s Municipal Properties Committee and Finance Committee. Also meeting are the Elkins Water Board and the Elkins Planning Commission.

Candidate filing for the June 10, 2025 Municipal Election opens Monday and closes Friday, February 28. There is one seat up for election in each of the city’s five wards; the office of the mayor is not on this year’s ballot, as the current mayor’s term does not end until 2027. Filing instructions and other information about the 2025 election may be found here: www.cityofelkinswv.com/2025-election.

Municipal Properties meets Monday at 11 a.m. to review plans for the renovation of City Hall and to discuss making repairs and improvements to the roof of the Phil Gainer Community Center (PGCC).

The Finance Committee also meets Monday, at 1 p.m. The agenda includes discussion of financing options for both the City Hall renovation project and the PGCC roof.

Meeting Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Wood Technology Center on Eleventh Street, the Planning Commission will continue work on updating the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

Overdue utility accounts must be brought up to date before Monday to avoid shutoff.

Current utility bills and in-city fire fees are due February 20 to avoid penalty. (Pay online here: www.cityofelkinswv.com/online-payments)
