Delegate thanks all who supported bill

Coop-Gonzalez

CACAPON STATE PARK — On Friday, Governor Patrick Morrisey signed into law House Bill 2067, the West Virginia Firearms Marketing Clarification Act, with Delegate Elias Coop-Gonzalez (R-Randolph) serving as the bill’s lead sponsor.

The signing ceremony took place at the shooting range in Cacapon State Park in Morgan County, where the governor also signed two additional pro-Second Amendment bills.

During the event, Delegate Coop-Gonzalez delivered remarks emphasizing the necessity of HB 2067, highlighting its role in safeguarding lawful firearms commerce and protecting the rights of West Virginians, according to a press release from the delegate.

“This bill ensures that firearm manufacturers and sellers cannot be unfairly targeted simply for engaging in lawful business,” Coop-Gonzalez said in the press release.

“It is a vital step to strengthen our Second Amendment protections and to send a clear message that West Virginia stands firmly for freedom,” he added.

Delegate Coop-Gonzalez thanked his colleagues, the Governor, and the many West Virginians who voiced their support for this important legislation, according to the release.

Morrisey said he signed the three bills into law Friday to protect the Second Amendment rights of West Virginians.
