PHILIPPI — The Blue and Gray Park at the entrance to Philippi on the Rt. 119 side of the Covered Bridge is home once again to a sign naming the park.

Years ago, wind destroyed the sign. For the last two years, the Philippi Convention & Visitors Bureau has been working to replace that sign so that visitors would know about the park and know they had arrived in Philippi. Today, a new custom-designed sign greets visitors to historic Philippi.

Ed Larry, member of the CVB Board and president of the BC Chamber of Commerce, was the lead on this project. He worked with Steve Phillips, owner and graphic artist of Lizard Wrapz, to design and fabricate the sign.

Once that work was completed, the Philippi City crew picked up the sign in Grafton and then modified the still-standing posts in the park to secure the sign.

The city crew recently installed the sign and then met with representatives of the Philippi CVB to The sign was installed this past week by the city crew, who later met with representatives of the CVB to present the finished project to the City of Philippi.

The new sign once again signals to travelers that they have arrived in Philippi and highlights the importance of the Blue and Gray Park in the town’s tourism and history.

Starting at $3.92/week.
