Curbside Recycling Pick-Up begins at 6 a.m – Pick-up is within the City Limits of Buckhannon. Information about recycling can be found on our website at https://buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/, at City Hall, or by calling the Recycling Center or Upshur County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 472-4443.

Friday, Sept. 19:
* Yard Waste Collection for City Residents – Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.
*Farmers Market in Jawbone Park: The Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and popular local items every Friday beginning at 2:30 pm, in Jawbone Park now through Friday, October 31st.
Saturday. Sept. 20:
* The Make It Shine Event – The City of Buckhannon Waste Collection Department has scheduled a Free Garbage Dump Day for Buckhannon Waste Customers with monthly billing, for Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. For more details, click here.
* Free Paper Shredding Event – The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority invites residents to participate in a free paper shredding event on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12 noon. The event will take place at 395 Mudlick Road (across from the Waste Transfer Station on Mudlick Road). For more details, click here.
* Stockert Youth & Community Center Children’s Festival – September 20, 2025 – There will be games, bounce houses, a free lunch for the kids, door prizes, face painting, and so much more! FREE for all kids. This is being held at the Stockert Youth & Community Center, 79 E. Main Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201 – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

* Sept.28 – Gold Star Mothers’ Rose Garden Dedication & Luncheon at Jawbone Park from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm.
* Oct. 18 – Harvest Festival & Chili Cook-off hosted by Moon Flower, 46 East Main Street, Buckhannon, WV. Enjoy crafts, flowers, homemade goods, and thrift items. They will showcase chili made from 10+ local restaurants.
* Nov. 27 – Upshur County Recreational Complex will hold a 5K, beginning in Jawbone Park at 7:30 am.
* Dec. 14 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7 p.m.
* The City of Buckhannon To Auction Used Equipment – The City of Buckhannon will participate in a public auction with Partner Auctions on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 9 a.m. The auction will take place at 30 Brushy Fork Crossing, Buckhannon, WV 26201. * Buckhannon (NEW) Water Treatment Plant Project – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – The City of Buckhannon plans to construct a new $33 million water treatment plant and invest an additional $5.5 million in pipeline upgrades.
