Elkins native to appear on MTV series

ELKINS — A former Elkins resident will be one of 22 singles trying to find love and win money in an upcoming reality television show.

Twenty-four-year-old Cam Viney will take part in MTV’s “Are You the One?: Season of Fate,” the seventh season of the show, which will premier at 10 p.m. on Aug. 8 and take place in Kona, Hawaii.

“Are You the One?: Season of Fate,” will be hosted by Terrence J., and feature 22 singles jetting off to Hawaii to undergo the series’ signature matchmaking process in hopes of finding their special someone and splitting a $1 million cash prize, according to MTV’s website.

Contestants will not only have to surrender to the matchmaking process but also put their faith in fate to find their perfect match, the website continues.

The show also features another West Virginia native as a contestant — Lauren Roush, 23, of Mason.

Viney graduated from Elkins High School in 2012 before going on to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied economics and excelled at track, earning a scholarship.

He also studied international human rights and humanitarian law at Stockholm University in Stockholm, Sweden.

Viney has worked as a litigation paralegal for Steptoe and Johnson Llp in Washington, D.C,. and is currently employed with the United States Senate, also in Washington, D.C., where he resides.
