82nd Mountain State Forest Festival to kick off Saturday

ELKINS — All the beauty, grandeur and flat-out fun of the 82nd Mountain State Forest Festival will begin Saturday with the official opening ceremony at the Federal Building Plaza in Elkins.

This year’s theme, “The Majestic Roads Lead to Royalty,” was selected by Director General Rich Nida, as a tribute to the beautiful fall foliage in our area.

Buckhannon resident Alia Danae Figueroa has been selected as Maid Silvia for the 82nd MSFF. Figueroa is also a freshman at Davis & Elkins College.

Grace Marie Lindsay of Elkins and Hannah Rose Shiflett of Beverly are the Maids of Honor to Queen Silvia LXXXII.

This year’s MSFF entertainment is headlined by country music legends Sawyer Brown, who will perform during the 82nd Mountain State Forest Festival’s 2018 Country Music Show on Oct. 6 at Harper-McNeely Auditorium on the campus of D&E College.

Comedy in the Mountains Featuring Lee Ternosic will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Myles Center for the Arts/Harper-McNeeley Auditorium of Davis & Elkins College, during the MSFF Comedy Magic Show.

Nida said new events for this year’s festival include a Mountain State Street Machines Cruise-In, the “Takin’ it to The Streets Chili Cook-off” and cornhole tournament, all set for Saturday, as well as a corn dog eating contest, sponsored by Kiwanis International.

Starting at $3.92/week.
