D&E to host 9/11 ceremony

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College Student Veterans Association (SVA) will host a 9/11 commemorative ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the flag pole behind Liberal Arts Hall. D&E Vice President for Enrollment Management and Institutional Advancement Dr. Rosemary Thomas will speak on her personal loss that resulted from the tragedy.

The ceremony marks the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people. At 8:46 a.m., SVA members will lower the American flag signifying the time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. D&E senior Bryan LaFollette, pipe master of the West Virginia Highlanders of Davis & Elkins College, will play taps.

The public is invited to take part in the ceremony.
