Reed Recognized for Service

The Inter-Mountain photos by Amanda Hayes City of Buckhannon Mayor David McCauley recognized Dr. Joseph Reed, left, as the newest Buckhannon Exemplary Service Testimonial Award recipient Thursday. Reed has been a substantial contributor to a host of service organizations including as founder of the Green Bean Weekend celebration to feed the needy, the Upshur Parish House, Create Buckhannon, president of the Upshur County Family Resource Network, treasurer of the Upshur County Farmland Protection board, member of the Upshur County Tobacco Prevention Coalition and as an active participant in the community garden. He is a member of the state steering committee for the Healthy Bodies, Healthy Spirits initiative. Dr. Reed is an active parishioner of Buckhannon Presbyterian Church and helping to play the church’s 170th anniversary celebration. ‘Dr. Joe Reed has long helped us all in our B-U community to be happier and healthier in countless ways,’ Mayor David McCauley said. Reed’s name will be added to a bench planned for Jawbone Park to honor BEST recipients.
