Buckhannon Presents ‘Best Award’

Richter was one of the original five co-founders of the Buckhannon River Watershed Association in 2001. ‘Paul has vigilantly protected our community’s water supply, having spent the past several years administering one of BRWA’s large grants, overseeing six acid mine drainage projects and beginning a seventh totaling $1.7 million,’ according to the proclamation. Richter is a professor emeritus in chemistry at West Virginia Wesleyan College, previously volunteered for the Buckhannon Meals on Wheels Program operated out of First United Methodist Church and also assisted in beginning the Upshur Parish House’s community garden having worked that program for more than three years. ‘Dr. Paul Richter has long helped us all in our B-U community to be happier and healthier in countless ways since 1965,’ the proclamation read. Richter’s name will be added to the BEST bench to be installed in Jawbone Park.
