ELKINS — A local State Farm branch hosted a celebration Tuesday after the reins were taken over by a new agent.

The Nikki Rogers State Farm Agency hosted a ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday.

Rogers said she is “absolutely excited” to run the business from its location in the Tygart Valley Mall on Harrison Avenue.

Rogers has worked in the insurance business for eight years, initially as a State Farm team member and now as an agent.

“When I was a team member for State Farm, I just fell in love with being able to help people, and I’m very passionate about that.” said Rogers.

She said her love of helping people made becoming an agent the clear next step in her career.

Rogers was chosen for the position by State Farm after going through a rigorous interview process as well as a business plan proposal.

“They make a selection based on that,” she said.

A native of Calhoun County, Rogers is looking forward to being involved and creating a positive impact in the community.

“I definitely want to be involved in the community,” she said, adding that she’s already joined the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m working on some other things that will help with some of the nursing homes in the area as well as the children in the area.

“I just want to be an active part of the community,” she said. “My family is all here and actually works here with me. So, we’re all very well involved.”
