Christmas Parade set in Elkins

ELKINS — The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Christmas Parade in Elkins on Wednesday with the theme “Jingle all the Way.”

“It’s going to be a fun evening,” said Lisa Wood, executive director for the Chamber. “Santa and Mrs. Claus, bands, side-by-sides, jingle bells, parade marchers, and (hopefully) a little snow. What could be better?”

The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. on 10th Street and Davis Avenue before heading north to Fourth Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead the march to the YMCA where there will be an area for children to play and partake in “Reindeer Games”, sponsored by Pack n Ship and the Davis Health System Foundation, as well as photos with Santa, sponsored by The Inter-Mountain. Snacks will also be provided, courtesy of Ed Griesel and the Woman’s Club of Elkins.

“The Christmas Parade in Elkins is such a special occasion and a magical night,” said Steve Herron, publisher of The Inter-Mountain. “Kids of all ages are so excited and it is just a wonderful experience for everyone.

“There are a lot of people involved in making the parade and the events that take place at the ‘Y’ a successful fun night for all,” said Herron. “I am looking forward to Wednesday night and I hope to see the parade route and the YMCA overflowing with the young at heart.”

For some pre-parade entertainment, Elkins Main Street and FirstEnergy urge everyone to attend a special Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30 between City Hall and the Darden House. Music will be provided by the Elkins Middle School Choir and there may even be a visit from The Grinch himself.

The Chamber is incredibly grateful for all of their sponsors, volunteers, and anyone else that donates their time and efforts to make the event successful and enjoyable each year.
