Colts topple Liberty
Watson records double-double in 83-49 win
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour is now on a four- game win streak after handing Big 10 Conference opponent Liberty an 83-49 setback on Friday night.
The Colts improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
Opening the first quarter with a 21-10 effort, PB continued to mount an increasing lead by outscoring the Mountaineers, 18-11, in the second canto to have a commanding 39-21 edge at the intermission break.
Smothering the visitors even more in the third, 27-11, the Colts entered the fourth frame with a 66-32 cushion in tow. Both squads scored 17 points in the last period of regulation.
Josh Watson paced PB with a double-double at the scorer’s table via 15 points, 11 boards and three takeaways.
Jeremy Siebert bucketed 12 points for the hosts, while Logan Ball garnered 11 points, three boards and three steals.
Maverick Williams rounded out the four players in double figures for Philip Barbour with his 10 points and four rebounds.
Jed Hawkins rounded up nine points and three boards while diming out three assists and nabbing three steals.
With eight points each, Jesiah Matlick and Will Knight also contributed in the win.
Philip Barbour is slated to be on the road at Class AA, No. 8 North Marion on Wednesday for a Big 10 varsity tilt. Tip time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Rachel.
