CommUnity Table event canceled
ELKINS — The annual CommUnity Table event, organized by Beander’s Bar and Tavern and Elkins Main Street, has been canceled due to projected rain.
The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 7, but an unexpected snow storm caused dangerous driving conditions. Organizers agreed to reschedule the event for today.
With rain in the forecast and a high chance of showers today, the event has been canceled by organizers.
An informational release from Elkins Main Street on Monday states, “As we all know, the weather in Elkins almost never cooperated with community events, especially during the winter season.”
“After pushing back the date for the CommUnity Table in hopes of better weather, we and Beander’s have decided to cancel the event set for tomorrow, Jan.14,” the release continues.
The statement also thanked the various organizations and businesses that were supporting the event this year. “Organizations, businesses, the City of Elkins, restaurants and community volunteers have set aside their time and resources to plan an evening of food, laughter and joy for the community to gather,” the release states.
Elkins Main Street urges citizens to ‘stay tuned’ for future events and community gatherings this winter.
