American Legion placing flags on veterans’ graves

ELKINS — On Saturday, May 23, at 9 a.m., the American Legion will be placing American flags on all veterans’ graves at Little Arlington Cemetery. If you would like to help, officials would appreciate having you there.

On May 25, Memorial Day, at 11 a.m., ceremonies will be held at All Veterans Memorial. There will not be chairs or refreshments, you may bring your own.

Please join in to remember those who have fallen, served and are no longer with us and who have guaranteed our freedoms. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held upstairs at the American Legion, enter through the Fourth Street doors.

On Saturday, June 13, at 6 p.m. at Little Arlington Cemetery, a flag retirement ceremony will be held for all damaged American flags. If you have a flag that needs proper disposal, bring it with you.

A chair and water are suggested for yourself. If you wish to dispose of the flag yourself, clothes that are fire resistant are required for safety reasons.
