Art contest deadline for high school seniors approaching

The Mountain Arts District announces its first art contest for 2020 High School Seniors.

This contest is open to the 2020 graduating class in Randolph, Barbour, Tucker, Upshur, Pocahontas and Nicholas counties. Cash prizes will be awarded. Students may submit up to three individual pieces of fine art or sculpture. Entries must be submitted online to mtnartsdistrict@gmail.com by May 29.

From June 1 to June 8, the Mountain Arts District (MAD) will display photos of the entries on its Facebook page. The submission with the most “likes” will win a cash award from our sponsor, Ajuga, ajuga.com. Two additional cash awards will be given for the second and third entry with the most “likes.” There will be seven Honorable Mention Awards. Besides Facebook, the submissions will be available for viewing on the Mountain Arts District website at www.madwv.com.

“In these uncertain times, the Mountain Arts District wants to let the Seniors in high school know that they and their work are treasured by the community and we thought this might be a good way to show that we care about them,” said Scottie Wiest, president.

Any business or person that would like to participate as a co-sponsor of this 2020 Senior Student Art Show, please contact the Mountain Arts District at mtnartsdistrict@bmail.com.

A complete copy of the rules, submission instructions, and permission forms can be accessed by going to the Mountain Arts District website, www.madwv.com. Any questions can be emailed to mtnartsdistrict@gmail.com.
