ELKINS — When the Emma Scott Garden Club learned that there weren’t plans for flowers on the Iron Horse Statue area this year, the Garden Club agreed to take on this project for the beautification of Elkins and being a Vibrant Community.

Millie Goldberg, a long time Garden Club member, had given the garden club a donation on her death for the beautification of Elkins. The Garden Club designated these funds as the Millie Goldberg Beautification Fund. Funds were used over the years for projects, and additional donations have been given to the fund.

This Fund seemed like the perfect use for the Iron Horse planting this year. The Club donated $1,000 toward the purchase and planting of over 200 colorful plants, and through the generous gift from the city of Elkins Mayor’s Budget, the planting was completed. Tom Rennix is working with the Garden Club to water the flowers during the summer as needed.
