ELKINS — Next week there will be meetings of the Sanitary Board on Monday, council’s Municipal Properties Committee on Wednesday, and council on Thursday.
At Monday’s Sanitary Board meeting, which will be held virtually at 3:15 p.m., the board will review a requested amendment to its contract with Burgess & Niple, invoices presented for payment, and financial statements.
Council’s Municipal Properties Committee meets virtually on Wednesday at 9 a.m. The committee’s agenda includes discussion of the Elkins Main Street streetscape plan, plans for fiscal year 2021 beautification funds, and evaluation of an application for a grant through the W. Va. DOH’s TA/RTP program.
The agenda for Thursday’s 7 p.m. virtual council meeting is not yet complete. Agenda items entered so far include continued discussion of possible charter changes; final adoption of the recodification of city laws; approval of an amendment to rules of the Firefighters Civil Service Commission raising the maximum age for firefighter applicants to 40 in the case of veterans; and consideration of a waiver of B&O taxes for contractors working on the Phase II Sewer Project.

Utility bills and in-city fire fee payments are due Aug. 19. After suspending shutoffs in March, the city’s water and sewer utilities recommenced shutoffs as of August 5.
