Upshur man found not guilty in trial
BUCKHANNON — An Upshur County man was found not guilty of the charges against him after a two-day trial in Upshur County Circuit Court.
William David Brown, 45, of Buckhannon, was found not guilty of three counts of incest and 12 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian on Sept. 24.
The state had alleged that Brown had sexually abused his stepdaughter between 2015 and 2017. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police Crimes Against Children Unit.
Brown testified in his own behalf and denied the allegations.
The state’s case was presented by Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney Bryan S. Hinkle. Brown was represented by James E. Hawkins, Jr.
Judge Jacob E. Reger presided over the trial.
