Healthcare company to buy Nella’s
ELKINS — A West Virginia-based company is purchasing both Nella’s Inc. and Nella’s Nursing Home, two longtime Elkins businesses which have been family-owned for more than 60 years, officials said.
Stonerise Healthcare, which owns health centers throughout West Virginia and southeast Ohio, announced Wednesday that by Dec. 31, Nella’s Inc. and Nella’s Nursing Home will become part of the Stonerise Network.
Nella’s Inc. is a 100-bed long-term care and rehabilitation center, and Nella’s Nursing Home, Inc. is an 84-bed long-term care and rehabilitation center. Together, they employ nearly 200 people.
All employees of Nella’s will be retained and Stonerise will honor all years of service and tenure, a press release stated Wednesday.
“Nella’s founder Nella Pennington wanted to be a missionary, but she found her real calling in caring. She was a trailblazer for progressive care in our community and in West Virginia. We are proud to say our family has carried on with the mission to provide quality person-centered care for over 67 years,” Shasta Eidell, administrator of Nella’s Nursing Home, Inc., said.
“We have always strived to grow and improve. We feel that this transition with Stonerise will enable Nella’s to progress as our founder envisioned, and provide exciting new opportunities for our staff and residents,” Eidell added.
The Stonerise leadership team is scheduled to meet with Nella’s team members.
“I have valued a long-standing relationship with the Eidell family for several decades,” said Steve White, co-founder of Stonerise. “I have always admired the family-like culture maintained at Nella’s and know that their team members and patients will experience a smooth transition into the Stonerise Network because we share very similar philosophies on providing loving, quality care and putting patients first.”
The Randolph County acquisition will increase the number of Stonerise centers in West Virginia from 17 to 19, including River Oaks, a 120-bed skilled nursing center in Clarksburg.
“We feel very blessed for the opportunity to expand our footprint into Randolph County and continue serving this community with short-and long-term care needs. We will embrace all Nella’steam members into the Stonerise family,” said Larry Pack, CEO and co-founder of Stonerise.
Stonerise Healthcare, founded in 2009, has more than 3,000 employees. It offers a broad range of care services to more than 2,000 patients in West Virginia and southeast Ohio, including transitional and skilled nursing care centers, therapy, home health care and hospice.
