UCDA names new director

BUCKHANNON — A resident of Phoenix, Arizona has been appointed as the new executive director of the Upshur County Development Authority.
Jennifer M. Tanner-Bostian, MBA, will begin working for the Development Authority on Aug. 23.
“On behalf of the Board, I can say that we look forward to welcoming Jennifer to the UCDA and Upshur County,” Skip Gjolberg, Upshur County Development Authority Board president, said. “We are excited to begin working with her in continuing to develop our great businesses and community.”
Tanner-Bostian has been serving as the deputy director of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, as well as the city’s economic development business specialist, project manager and department manager.
She earned an M.B.A. in Project/Technology Management from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Tanner-Bostian is certified as a Professional Community Economic Developer by the Southern Economic Development Council and the Community Development Council.
She has more than 20 years of experience in business development, strategic project management and client relationship management.
“She has broad experience working with communities of different geographic sizes, from small rural cities to entire states and has been involved with diverse industries including health care, pharmaceuticals, nonprofit organizations, engineering services, education, and technology transfer,” Tanner-Bostian’s Linkedin profile states.
She “is an acknowledged authority on comprehensive community economic development planning, facilitation and field research, and a skilled project manager … (and) has in-depth experience in building consensus during strategic planning and brings her unique style of community engagement to each project,” the profile reads.
“She has worked on many strategic planning efforts for communities, regions and organizations across the United States,” a UCDA press release states.
