Train carrying 92 passengers derails in Bemis

BEMIS — An excursion train carrying 92 passengers derailed in Bemis in Randolph County late Saturday afternoon, officials said.

No one was harmed in the accident. All the passengers were helped from the train by emergency workers and then taken by bus back to Elkins, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office representative said.

The train was also carrying seven crew members, Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon said.

Responding to the scene in addition to the Sheriff’s Office were Randolph County EMS and several local fire departments.
